Design and Looks
The Nokia 1650 sports a simple bar-phone design. It is small and relatively light-weight. The body is rectangular with rounded edges and comes in an interesting two-tone colour scheme: wine red-cream and black-cream. To make texting an effortless experience, the phone sports a rubber keypad. On the top of the phone is the flashlight that comes in handy more often than you would think.
The phone features a 1.8inch display that looks bigger than it actually is thanks to the surrounding highlights. The screen takes up quite a big portion of the phone making the keypad look somewhat cramped. Fear not, the keypad is made out of rubber and follows a single unbroken layout. Also, each row of keys is terraced offering great touch orientation. The only uncomfortable aspect of the keypad here is the D-pad which will be hard to manipulate especially if you have a large thumb.
Obviously the phone's most outstanding feature is the FM Radio. It automatically scans and saves the channels on your phone. The antenna is provided by the headset wire so it must be plugged on even when you're listening to the radio on loudspeaker. Unfortunately the integrated radio here does not feature RDS support.
The phone also features basic Java applications such as simple games, calculator, a personal budget manager, currency convertor, voice memo and calendar.
If it's a cheap radio phone you're looking for, then the Nokia 1650 is a model that you just cannot pass up.
