Design and Looks
Starting with the construction, the phone is better than the E61i in terms of sturdiness; while the E61 may look like it'll break upon a single drop; the feel of the E61i's solid metallic body instills confidence in its users to be careless. The ergonomics are vastly improved too, for one the phone uses a D-pad over the joystick on the E61 which is a definite improvement. The keys on the QWERTY keypad are widely spaced albeit smaller than the ones on the E61. There's also the addition of the customizable My Own key which is soon finding its way on all Nokia phones.
As a phone, it has excellent call reception and the scientific placement of the speaker phone ensures that it will never get muffled when the phone is placed on its back or in your pocket. As far as connectivity goes, the phone supports almost all varieties of data transfer be it EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or 3G. Sadly, the phone's voice/call recorder lets you record only a minute's worth of dialogue which makes absolutely no sense because of the phone's vast memory capacity.
The multimedia capabilities of the phone are satisfactory, the 2MP camera is fairly decent and users can use it for videocalling or videoconferencing too. The built in music player and video players (flash and real) are on par with multimedia capabilities of business phones but could definitely not be forgiven were they found on a dedicated media phone at the same price.
The display quality and the organizing functions of the phone need no mention since Nokia has always been good at these. One of the organizing functions worth a mention is the 'Search'; Being a business phone, it is likely that users will fill it with a lot of data, there may come a time when users would like to access something that they don't remember where they've kept; this is where the search comes in. Despite the data not being indexed, this function searches quickly just about anything on the phone.
Then there's Quick Office to help you view Microsoft Office documents and even edit the documents. There is also a tutorial to help you learn how to use the phone.
The battery life of this phone is simply amazing and the phone can go up to days of constant usage on a single charge.
The phone is definitely an improvement over the older E61 with its camera, ergonomic design, richer preloaded content and better looks that will also toughen the competition among its rivals.
