Design and Looks
The phone is of slider form that has a leathery plastic back for easy gripping. The slider mechanism is of solid construction but sliding the keypad in and out can be a difficult job at least when the phone is new.
The most outstanding feature of the phone is the dedicated functional keypad on the front cover right below the large display. This is a great feature and makes it easy to access the phone's important functions with a simple click including conference and phonebook in addition to a custom key that can be programmed by users to open their favorite applications. The keypad is very comfortable to work on but won't suit users with large fingers. The phonebook, like all Nokia business phones can store virtually unlimited number of contacts. For those who have sight-problems, the voice help will surely benefit them as it helps the user listen to SMSs and menu options as read by the phone. As for the voice recorder, it only lets users record a minute's length of audio input which is pretty shocking because even the lower end models in the E series will let you record up to an hour.
Ofcourse, no business phone is complete without a good host of organizing functions, which is what this phone has to offer. As usual, searching contacts, planning events are all made easy with the pre-installed applications. Unfortunately, like its predecessors, the E65's pre-installed Office feature does not let users edit documents.
The camera understandably offers users with a resolution of only 2MP, so the compromise in business security is minimalised. The camera does not feature autofocus or flash though. Sadly, there is no secondary camera for video-calling.
If a business model with style is of great concern to you, then this is a phone you cannot miss out on. If similar functionality with a smaller price tag is what you're looking for, then you're looking at the wrong phone.
