The N76 may look like any regular flip phone but itís a smartphone by all means. However, it does have its flaws, and there are many at that! The cons on this model far outweigh the pros. People who use this phone will have a love-hate relationship with it.

Design and Looks
The Nokia N76 is the first clamshell of this size to feature the Symbian Series 60 OS which in part makes it a smartphone. This is phenomenal as smartphones this compact and slim are rare. On the outside, it takes on after the Motorola Razr series of phones but on the inside it packs in quite a lot.

Although the phone is stylish on one hand, its form is plagued with cheap plastics and bad construction on the other. The plastics are susceptible to finger prints and users will find themselves spending more time wiping the phone than using it. Also, most connection points are squeezed into the top portion of the phone which makes it hard to, say, keep the lid fully open when you have the earphones connected. Also, the keypad, though stylish, is hard to use being completely flat and offering little touch-feedback.

Being a clamshell, the phone comes with two displays; the secondary display on the outside is quite good offering users with around 256K colours. But this display is covered under a glass that hampers legibility especially under direct sunlight. A good thing about the phone is that under the secondary display you have three dedicated music keys to help you access the radio and music player that are very convenient indeed.

On the good side, the phone is preloaded with a nice number of features. Being a media phone, the music and video player are both functional and easy to use. Even the earphones that come with the phone are great and what's more is that the phone supports 3.5mm earphones so you can plug in just any other earphone of your choice. Another surprise is that the phone comes with the more popular miniUSB connector instead of the microUSB connector that is standard fare on most Nokia phones.

The camera is nothing great either; it offers you a resolution of only 2MP and pictures taken with it are filled with noise. Videos are of passable quality and the lack of autofocus leaves much to be desired for.

There is also no pre-installed office applications for viewing documents except in PDF format, an application to view others can however be downloaded separately.
